Its the end of the regular season for this year’s NA LCS Summer Split, but the excitement and hype is only beginning.
In a harsh obstruction of Counter Logic Gaming’s chance to skip to the quarterfinals, Team SoloMid beat CLG 2-0 yesterday, blazing into the semi-finals on a hot streak they’ve been fueling since winning the EU/NA LCS Rift Rivals. Though match 2 was quite a nail biter for both teams, TSM Bjergsen and TSM Doublelift were able to bring in the victory with a combined KDA of 16/8/14 in a match they lost PvP wise, 22-19. In addition, the Corki-Jinx combo was able to bring in a combined 116.3k Damage to the rest of the teams’ 55.3k.
Luckily for CLG, they were able to shut down Team Dignitas and their late season luster to stay in the no.3 seed. Had they not won this game, they would currently be entering the playoffs from the no.5 seed, an even worse turn of events for the team that lead the season up until week 6 when Team Dignitas knocked them from the throne. Team Dignitas would move forward to down 3 top teams in week 6,7, and 8 to move from the bottom of the standings into a prime playoff position where they almost ended up in 3rd place. Because of Team Dignitas’ domination of the NA LCS top tier teams as of late, Team Dignitas is most certainly an exciting addition to the playoff bracket. Not only are they interesting to watch, the prospect of a massive upset to TSM or IMT (Immortals) is extremely exciting as recently as Team Dignitas was able to bring down these dominant teams. Don’t let their no.5 seed fool you, if they continue to play the way they have been, they have a legitimate chance of winning this summer split.
The playoffs start on August 19th. Below we have organized the playoff matches based on the current standings.
