2017 LoL World Championship Finals – SKT vs SSG: The Rematch

That’s right, we get a rematch of last year’s thrilling finals.

League of Legends World Championship Finals, for the first time in its history, will star the same teams back to back in consecutive years, as SK telecom T1 face off against Samsung Galaxy, the only two teams to have won Worlds since 2013.

After an unpredictable World Championship tournament, we have a repeat world champion in the finals, which is a fittingly ironic end. In the quarterfinals Samsung Galaxy surprised everyone by eliminating Longzhu Gaming in a 3-0 sweep, but not without some struggles in their group and only leaving in second place.

SKT juggernaut had many difficulties on many occasions which included having a hard time in an easy group and later, by narrowest of margins, beating the EU LCS second seed, Misfits. In their quarterfinals and semifinals, SK telecom T1 has gone down 2-1 in the series and won the fifth game, something that not many people would have predicted with this team.

The 2017 World Championship Finals will be a best of five and will get started at 3 a.m. ET on Saturday, November 4.
